Chalcedony stalactite coral, also known as chalcedony stalactites or tube agate, forms through a fascinating process in underwater caves. It begins with the accumulation of fine silica-rich particles, which may include microcrystalline quartz and chalcedony, as suspended materials in the water. Over time, these particles gradually adhere to the ceilings of submerged caves, forming small, hollow tubes. As water droplets drip from the cave ceiling, they deposit additional layers of silica, which slowly build up the tube's walls, creating intricate, concentric rings of chalcedony. This process continues over centuries, resulting in the development of chalcedony stalactite formations, resembling delicate, cylindrical structures.
