Calcite and fluorite can form together in veins and cavities within sedimentary rocks, especially limestones, or in hydrothermal veins within igneous and metamorphic rocks. The two minerals can precipitate from the same hydrothermal fluids in these environments, often as the fluid temperature and chemistry change. In some cases, fluorite may form first, followed by calcite, or vice versa, depending on the specific conditions such as the temperature, pressure, and composition of the fluid at the time of mineral formation.
